Adding in extra details:
Before the viewing of our films in Friday's lessons, I did a few final edits of the film to check it ran smoothly.
One of the things I decided to add was a credit along the top of two sections of the film. I added in the times of the girl lying on the stairs and then the time when the killer walks into the room. As we used the conventional flashback technqiue in our thriller, this seemed suitable as it affermed this and helped the audience to understand that the two events connected.
Furthermore, it also made the film look slightly like a crime investigation, something on crime watch/a reconstruction. I like this as it gives the film realism which the audience can relate to.

Adding Music:
Today Livi and I added music to our preliminary film. We used garageband to search our desired sound for our film and after a lot of time listening to a variety of tracks, we chose a sound called 'pulse' which was a continuous, eerie noise.
We saved it into our itune folder and then dragged it into a specific section of our film. We added it into three different sections of our film. It starts in the first shot, when the phone rings, then dies out after the phone stops ringing. It then begins again to coincide with the zooming in on the girls arm after being thrown down the stairs and continues through the section where the thriller is walking down the corridor.
Eventually it restarts at the end when the credits skim across the screen, this is used to conclude the drama and tie up the horrific event which has taken place.
I really like the music, it is not cliche and does not spoil the dramatic ambiance of the scenes. It is subtle and fades into the action to spook out the audience.

Final Editing Stages
Today, I more or less finished off the editing of our thriller just by adding some effects to link shots.
Firstly, I added a 'fade from black' transition at the very beginning of our film, the choice of black initiates the genre of the film as a suggestion for bad events to occur. I adjusted the settings of this fade to 5.5 seconds so it gradual in a build up to our first dramatic shot of the girl lying dead on the stairs.
Then i added a 'fade to white' transitition between the section where the girl is left lying on the stairs dead or alive, and the flashback to when the killer was arriving. I adjusted the settings again to around 4 seconds. This fade to white illustrates the girls innocence and also suggests that she has died even though her fingers twinch, therefore, questionning the audiences understanding and keeping their interest. It is a nice contrast and a simple yet succesful way to merge sections of our film.
One of the final transition I added was a zoom out shot, which zooms in when the door slams and then zooms out through the glass of the window where the killer is walking away. This techique is useful when tying the last of the events together, and it establishes the fact the killer has in fact murdered her. The way the repetition of looking through glass is used suggests that the killer may have been watched by somebody. I love the way the lines in the glass are focused and the killers figure is blurred, it adds an eerie effect as it shows him cowering away into the shadows almost, ready to strike again.
Right at the very end, I added a fade to white transition once again. This almost suggests there is hope for the girl, coinciding with how she twitches her finger so she may not have died.
We lengthened a few of the transitions for effect such as the first and last so that is is dramatic for the audience.
